Tenyu Shookei probablemente fue un monje viviendo a mediados del siglo XV. Aunque muchas de sus pinturas son de figuras humanas (Budai, Hanshan y Shide, etc.), realmente su especialidad fue el paisaje. El calígrafo de esta obra fue Koshi, un monje en el templo Tofuku-ji.
